i have always struggled with the idea of where i want to live. i guess that explains why i am always on the move. i really can't seem to figure it out...it's always between the city, the beach and somewhere out in the woods. since i just moved from portland to laguna beach, it looks like a little country house could be in my future...

this girl

seriously has one of the best jobs ever. she was recently sent over to japan to explore and eat, for the most part. i loved reading her blog post about all of her special and "secret" restaurant spots. my favorite part was her experience at the sushi restaurant...can you imagine eating raw fish right off the counter in the US?? after having 2 bad experiences with raw california tuna in the past week, i'd like to think not...
i can't wait to join her on an adventure in the near future!!

this is such a west coast idea...i'd really like to see some shipping containers used for dwellings up in the northeast. sure, it would have to be winterized but so what. you can just stick a wood burning stove inside and have it equipped with tons of blankets. i also love that this "house" has a rooftop garden, something else that would have to be modified in the NE...

just in

this news is actually months old but i just discovered it now. my all-time-favorite furniture store (which happens to be so close to my hometown in connecticut) has opened a store in culver city! Lilian August is beyond amazing. every time i'm home, i look forward to roaming around the showroom for inspiration. if you happen to be near either NY or LA, i suggest you check it out. they currently have an amazing sale going on for all custom orders...looks like i'll be making a trip up to LA this week...

many big name fashion designers are moving into interior design these days. bottega veneta, valentino, vivienne westwood, they're all doing it. but rather than jumping into a solo home line, jean paul gaultier has teamed up with roche bobois to design a collection that i predict will be picked up by small boutique hotels for their lounge or pool areas...

a new online magazine is here and it is fantastic. rue is the brain child of crystal gentilello and anne sage, two woman who are responsible for a couple of my favorite blogs: plush palate and the city sage. their team of writers, photographers and stylists are among the best and i am excited to see what the future months have in store!
